about the foundation series

The Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis Foundation Series offers classes in contemporary psychoanalysis to both licensed therapists and pre-licensed mental health professionals. Foundation Series participants receive an extensive introduction to both contemporary and classical psychoanalytic theory. In addition, all courses are taught by ICP members and candidates in a way that promotes active exploration of the application of psychoanalytic concepts in the clinical setting.

program overview

The one-year Foundation Series provides the student with the basic concepts of analytic theory and technique. The program presents a survey of historical models, along with an introduction to contemporary analytic thinking. The classes focus on core psychoanalytic concepts and their basic application to clinical practice. Foundation series classes are taught by notable ICP faculty and are open to students and clinicians at all levels of experience.

The Foundation Series is a stand-alone course of study that can also serve as an educational stepping stone into higher levels of psychoanalytic training in the 4-Year Psychoanalytic Training Program at ICP.
