Fromm Event Poster ICP - 2024

program description:

In celebration of Sandra Buechler’s new book, Erich Fromm: A Contemporary Introduction (Routledge, 2024), Buechler will present a personal reflection on the ways in which Fromm has had a profound effect on her clinical work. In conversation with fellow Fromm scholar, Ilene Philipson, Buechler describes how Fromm’s passionate conviction, hopefulness, profound humanism, integrity, and courage have inspired her throughout her adult life. He has played a central role in what she calls “my internal chorus” of mentors, analysts, teachers, and others, whom she can turn to in moments of need. Her new book explores Fromm’s contributions as a sociologist, activist, philosopher, clinician, mentor, author, inspiration for early career clinicians, and source of wisdom in these challenging times.
