“Do I Dare Disturb the Universe?”
A Two-Hour Clinical Writing Workshop with Suzi Naiburg, PhD, LICSW

Sunday March 2nd, 2025 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM PT

Suzi Naiburg returns to ICP with another clinical writing workshop, this time to dare participants to disturb their universe (thank you, T. S. Eliot) by deepening their experience of a common phenomenon by “ a figurative fetching of fresh words to your use (Robert Frost); by generating a Ferro-inspired reverie of an uninhibited mind to increase their analytic reach; by playing with an incantational voice to expand a “meaning space” (Sandler); and by writing from the inside out.

In this two-hour workshop, for new and experienced writers, excerpts from gifted writers from different fields will be mined for inspiration and practical lessons in the craft of writing. Four short writing exercises will give participants an opportunity to put what they learn immediately into practice. Listening to each other, participants will come to appreciate the myriad ways we can use writing to make discoveries about ourselves, our patients, and our clinical work. Those of you who have taken my writing workshops before may build on what you know, but previous work with me is not a prerequisite. Bring your favorite writing implements. Before we meet, please read the syllabus with excerpts from other writers so we can optimize our time together for you to write. The syllabus will be available by February 1 at . . .
