Carol Stuart, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst with over thirty years of experience. She is training and supervising analyst of the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis, – Los Angeles, CA, and training and supervising analyst and founding member of the Northwest Center for Psychoanalysis-Portland, OR. Dr. Stuart serves on the faculties of the Oregon Psychoanalytic Institute, in Portland, OR, and the School of Professional Psychology, Doctoral training program. She was Curriculum Director and Executive Board member of NCP-Portland, and presently serves on the Board, Curriculum Committee, Admissions Committee, and Training and Supervising Analysts committee for Oregon Psychoanalytic Institute. She has taught seminars, on “Eros and Creativity”, “What’s Love Got to Do with It?”, “The Transparent Therapist: Uses and Misuses of Countertransference,” Relational Psychoanalysis, “Knowing and Not Knowing” and Uses of the Body. In 2009 she was an invited guest speaker for Portland Center Stage Theater and presented a psychoanalytic perspective on the award winning play “Gray Garden.”
Dr. Stuart trained extensively in group, child, adult therapy, and psychological assessment/neuropsychological screening prior to psychoanalytic training. She is a licensed psychologist in both child and adult therapy. She is a member of the APA, Division 39, past member of American Group Psychotherapy Association, (AGAP), and International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis (IARPP). Dr. Stuart is in private practice and works with adults, couples, groups, and provides consultation and supervision in Portland OR.
